Verrrrry cool!! I've never had much luck with meteor showers given my location and the times they tend to peak. Comets are much easier to catch since they persist.
I remember as a kid seeing all the buzz about Comet Kohoutek, forecast to be the "Comet of the Century' in the monthly newsletter I'd get from the Estes Aerospace Club. My dad took us in the freezing cold of December down behind Two Guys hoping to catch a glimpse of it low on the horizon. It was a bust. All we kept spotting were the planes taking off or landing at Newark Airport. LOL. It wasn't until the 90s with Hale Bopp and others that I got to see my first comet. I drove west into the realtive darkness of Morris County and was in awe!! I didn't want to stop gazing at such an awesome sight in the heavens!! I hope Comet ISON let's me relive that excitement. Too freakin' cool!!
Man,,,,,, That is insanely cool,,,,,,,, This is really serious,,,,,,,,,, I love to see this stuff,,,,,,,,,,,, You guys hafta warn me when it's comin close,,,,,,,,
Teddy!!! Awwww.....you just missed it!! Oh wait. It was an airplane in the night sky, like a shooting star! Or as Lisa Douglas on Green Acres called them, a "shoosting star". LOL
Gotta love the heavens above!! We'll give you a heads-up when its time to pick your head up and look up! LOL. Sorry, I'm bored waiting for chicken to finish cooking.
That's funny,,,,,, If you don't have something to do for 2 seconds you get bored,,,,,,,, lol,,,,, How do you ever fall asleep,,,,,,, I get accused of the same thing,,,,,,,,,, I don't know how to turn off my mind,,,,,,,,,
Plenty of cosmic highlights over the next several days: tonight, the Sun, Earth, and Mars are in alignment, which occurs about every 26 months. April 14—Mars makes its closest approach toward Earth. April 15—lunar eclipse across the United States (set your clocks early—first views start around 1:20 a.m. on the East Coast). And, here's a bonus for those in the Wallops area: the International Space Station will fly overhead tonight starting at 7:51 p.m. EDT—visible for 6 minutes. Look for a very bright dot speeding across the sky appearing southwest and disappearing northeast with a max height of 88 degrees. Enjoy and share pics if you get any.
Joe, "FLY EM HIGH" I no doubt deserved my enemies, but I don't believe I deserved my friends.
Ehhhh,, No biggie... I wouldn't get to see any of these if you didn't warn me..... I don't mind looking up for a hoax once in a while cause its why I get to be looking up at the right times....
